All in a Day’s Work

A day in my life…

  • Woke up @ 5am physically shaky and in a cold sweat, my mind whirling with a million thoughts an ideas.
  • Watched the sky lighten as I did some research on the housing market.
  • Listened as my husband and daughter woke up around 8am and figured out I was “missing.”
  • Decided to make pancakes.
  • Kissed husband goodbye.
  • Made pancakes. (BTW, it was the best batch I’ve ever, ever made!  They were really fluffy!)
  • Ate pancakes.
  • Stuffed knowledge into The Child’s noggin.
  • Did dishes.
  • Put dogs outside.
  • Stuffed in more knowledge.
  • Picked a tick off the cat’s rectum-hole.  (Yuck.)
  • Washed hands.
  • Did laundry.
  • Let dogs back in.
  • Started fire in the wood stove.  With left-over pizza boxes.
  • Averted dire fire disaster from flaming pizza box that decided it wanted to burn as far away from the other boxes as possible and thought leaping out of the wood stove into the living room was a good idea.  (Whew.)
  • Extolled the merits of baking soda and remaining calm in lecture to The Child.
  • Averted tears of frustration from The Child during Math by making funny faces and laughing maniacally (others would have been sure I had lost it, had they seen).
  • Put the dog outside for “pooting” too much.
  • Made lunch.
  • Ate lunch while watching “Wallace and Grommet.”
  • Let dog back in.
  • Spilled water all over the couch.  Cleaned it up.
  • Did more laundry.
  • Caused Child to complete previous American Heritage Girls badge assignment.
  • Took a shower.
  • Sewed a button on The Child’s navy slacks (AHG uniform).
  • Did “The Bottom Dance” with The Child in the mirror.
  • Dressed Child in her American Heritage Girls uniform (she’s ADORABLE).
  • Put the dog outside again for “pooting” too much.
  • Got AHG stuff together.
  • Slid into the car (forgot cellphone, so went back for it before pulling out of the driveway).
  • Drove to the local gas station for gas.  The 93 grade was out of order…so put in $10 (3-4 gallons) of 89.  Still praying it won’t lock up my engine.  (That’s what’s supposed to happen if I put in a full tank of lower grade fuel.)
  • Deli was closed.  No supper.
  • (At the gas station…) Bought The Child a very cute horse shirt (she takes riding lessons and is a natural).
  • Drove toward church for AHG.
  • Almost ran into two cows that decided the road belonged to them.
  • Discussed college choices with Child.
  • Went to American Heritage Girls troop meeting.  Had a blast!
  • Drove toward home.  Discussed the differences between Creation and Darwinian Evolution with The Child.
  • Arrived home to dozing husband and barking dogs.
  • Made butter rice noodles for The Child and I (husband had eaten earlier).
  • Discussed Lantern Hollow Press business with husband (the blog, the eZine, etc.) because I missed this evening’s business meeting.
  • Restarted the internet connection.  Twice.
  • Let The Child crash on the living room floor with the dogs.
  • Waved good night to husband.
  • Wrote this blog post while occasionally scolding stinky dog.

Now I’m going to do my part for the Lantern Hollow Press eZine, “A Gallery of Worlds.”  And then I might sleep awhile…
